Racial Justice Sunday 2014

November 21, 2014 By Web Editor

Racial Justice Sunday is an opportunity for all Christians in Britain and Ireland to focus their worship, prayer and action on racial justice by:

  • Celebrating human diversity.
  • Rejoicing in how far God’s people have travelled together.
  • Recognising that there is much further to go both in the Church and in the world.

What are the aims?

  • To raise awareness and deepen understanding of the diversity of culture and experience both in society and in the church.
  • To become more inclusive, outward-looking and welcoming.
  • To encourage all Christians to tackle injustice, not ignore it.

Racial Justice Sunday takes place on the second Sunday in September. However, it can also be celebrate on any Sunday during the year.

Racial Justice Sunday 2014

This year’s resources have been kindly produced by the Cytûn: Churches Together in Wales’ Racial Justice Network. Racial Justice Sunday took place on Sunday 14th September, however it can also be celebrated on any Sunday during the year.

Drawing on a modern, diverse and sophisticated liturgical culture profoundly aware of the pilgrimage journeying of Wales’ Celtic roots, the resources touch on the following themes:

  • As Christians we are all on a journey
  • God’s people were migrants
  • Given our Christian history we should be welcoming to minorities in our midst

The resources are presented in Word and PDF format. Please note that the resources contain copyright material for which permission has been sought for Racial Justice Sunday 2014 only.
