Speaker Bios
Professor Mario Ignacio Aguilar is Chair of Religion and Politics at the School of Divinity, University of St Andrews. He is also a poet and an eremitic Camaldolese Benedictine Oblate, and has published widely in his interests in the theology of contemplation, the history of religion and issues of interfaith dialogue.
James Buchanan joined Operation Noah as the Bright Now Campaign Manager in March 2016. He leads work with divestment campaigners in various Churches, along with campaign strategy and research. James previously worked for the Church of England as Project Coordinator of the Pilgrimage2Paris ahead of the UN climate talks in 2015. He has also worked for Christian Aid and CAFOD.
Dr Anderson Jeremiah is an Anglican theologian and priest who was ordained in the Church of South India and now serves in the Church of England. He lectures on World Christianity, Christian Theology and Politics at Lancaster University and has published widely on the interface between Theology, Faith, and Politics.
Dr Elizabeth Joy, who is a member of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in the UK, has served in a variety of leadership roles in the ecumenical world for the past 32 years. She is currently a director of Churches Together in England.
Hannah Malcolm writes and campaigns around the subject of climate justice and the Church. She is training for ministry in the Church of England and writing a PhD on a political theology of climate and ecological grief. She edited the new SCM Press collection Words for a Dying World: Stories of Grief and Courage from the Global Church (2020).
Maina Salasopa is a leader in the Ekalesia Kelisiano, Tuvalu. He has worked with the United Nations and has spoken at many international conferences about climate change and in particular, about its effects on the Pacific region.
