Time is Now climate lobby – 26 June 2019

April 18, 2019 By Web Editor

The Time is NowJoin thousands in a mass lobby of the UK Parliament on 26 June 2019, asking politicians to ‘end the UK’s contribution to climate change and pass ambitious laws that create a healthier environment for nature and people’.

The lobby comes as the UK government is set to decide whether it will commit to an ambitious net zero emissions target and an Environment Bill is planned.

The Time is Now is being organised by The Climate Coalition and Greener UK, representing millions of people across the UK. Members of the Climate Coalition include CAFOD, Christian Aid, The Church of Scotland, Tearfund and the Salvation Army.

Christian Aid is encouraging campaigners to join the lobby and has resources, including a church poster:

‘Climate change affects people and planet alike – but it’s also an issue of justice.

‘It’s the world’s poorest communities who are often the least responsible for causing climate change – and who frequently suffer the worst of its impacts.

Tackling climate change is the next step in the church’s history of working together to bring about justice for the world’s poorest people.’

CAFOD has a flyer to promote the rally and is organising a Climate Pilgrimage with coaches departing from various locations across England and Wales.

Further details of the lobby, and resources including a lobby guide, MP invitation template and frequently asked questions sheet, are available on The Time is Now website.
