Day conference: ‘Church: Towards a Common Vision’ and ‘Juridical Ecumenism’

December 5, 2019 By Web Editor

Stained glass

This event by the Society for Ecumenical Studies looks at the World Council of Churches (WCC) report The Church: Towards a Common Vision and the response to this report including, most recently, the response from the Roman Catholic Church.

Revd Dr Susan Durber, URC minister and Moderator of the WCC Faith and Order Commission, will tell us about the process of analysing the churches’ responses.

The day will also include a presentation on a new international ecumenical initiative Juridical Ecumenism, looking at the role of Christian Law, introduced by Revd Dr Paul Goodliff, General Secretary of Churches Together in England (CTE). A response to Paul Goodliff’s presentation will be given by Professor Sir Malcolm Evans, Professor of Public International Law at the University of Bristol and author (inter alia) of Religious Liberty and International Law in Europe (Cambridge).

The day will conclude with attendance at sung evensong at Westminster Abbey.

See the information poster/flyer (below) for more details on the talks.
