‘They looked very anxious, they looked bored, many were uncertain how long they would be there for’, commented Cecilia Taylor-Camara on her impressions of refugees in the Samos ‘hotpsot’ she visited as part of the CTBI female Church leader delegation to Greece last week.
A new part of the existing refugee facility had opened the day they arrived, built to house 600-800 people but filled on its first day with over 1,000 people.
‘I am very aware that what we saw were snapshots, what we heard were soundbites. Now back in England I find myself constantly comparing my normal life here with the lives of some of the refugees I met, and reflecting on the inequality of our situations’, says Anne Browse, President of Methodist Women in Britain.
