Churches and church-related organisations are being encouraged by the Conference of European Churches (CEC) to participate in the European Commission’s public consultation on disability policies. CEC says churches have a depth of expertise on the integration and inclusion of disabled persons.
In the EU nearly 80 million citizens live with different forms of disabilities. The EU became a party to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to improve their life and created a European Disability Strategy 2010 – 2020, which is undergoing evaluation this year.
