It’s been more than a month since the COVID-19 outbreak. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of our friends’ praying for and supporting China and Hubei.
We have noticed that the outbreak have taken place globally. On February 27, the World Health Organization said that the biggest concern now comes from the outbreak outside China; In the past two days, the number of new cases reported by other regions of the world has exceeded that of China; currently, there are more than 3000 cases in 44 countries outside China. We are very concerned about the situation in other countries and we call on all Christians in China to pray for those medical experts and patients of the world.
In China, the situation is still grim. The government said “No victory should be hastily announced until there is a complete win”. By now, China had dispatched over 380 medical teams incorporating 42,000 medics to the virus-hit Hubei. The total number of confirmed cases in China now stands at 78,961 and the cumulative death toll is 2,791 as of 17:00 Friday.
CCC is keeping in touch with the epidemic area and learning about their needs. We are always ready to support Hubei!

China confirmed 5,090 new coronavirus cases on Thursday with 121 new deaths reported. This brings the total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland to 63,851 and the cumulative death toll to 1,380 as of Thursday.
Up to now, 180 medical teams, around 20,000 medical workers all over the country, have rushed to Hubei to fight against the virus. A total of 1,716 medical workers have been confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as of Tuesday, representing 3.8 percent of the total number of national confirmed cases. Among them, six have died, revealed the National Health Commission on Friday.
Xiaogan, one of the cities in Hubei Province worst hit by the novel coronavirus, will upgrade its epidemic control measures starting 17:00 BJT (0900 GMT) on Friday, including sealing residential complexes and only allowing essential vehicles on the road, the authorities said in a statement on Friday.

The China Christian Council social services department and the Amity Foundation are working tirelessly in support of the relief efforts and Fran from CCC writes:
‘The new coronavirus outbreak has disrupted Chinese people’s lives in every possible way. While most factories, schools and offices remain shut, farmers are finding it difficult to sell what they have. So does CCC & TSPM, and most co-workers remain working at home.
‘A total of 40,265 cases of the novel Coronavirus were confirmed in China as of 23:30 on Monday (3 February), with 909 deaths, according to China’s National Health Commission (NHC). A group of 350 medical workers from two hospitals in Shanghai set off for Wuhan to support the work against the Coronavirus on Sunday. According to Huashan Hospital, half of their dispatched staff are young, among which the youngest is 26 years old. The youngest member from Ruijin Hospital is 23 years old.
‘Medical supplies and living supplies such as vegetables, fast noodles and milk donated by Churches and Christians all over the country are flowing to the epidemic areas. Ventilators, thousands of instant hand sanitizer and disinfectant donated by CCC & TSPM are on the way to the hospitals and Civil Affairs Bureau in Jingzhou City, Yichang City and Xiaogan City in Hubei.’

God of life and wholeness, we pray for the people of China as they face the coronavirus outbreak in their land – and especially in Wuhan. We give thanks for the generosity of your people in China and around the world and we pray for all those who are giving their skills and dedicated service for the good of those affected.
