As the United Nations (UN) holds its latest conference to negotiate the prohibition of nuclear weapons (5 June – 7 July 2017), the Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT) has produced a briefing about the negotiations, why the treaty is needed and what action individuals and churches can make towards banning nuclear weapons.
The Baptist Union of Great Britain, the Church of Scotland, the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church all support a new treaty to aim to eliminate nuclear weapons and are oppossed to the UK building new Trident submarines at a cost of £41 billion.
You can download the Nuclear Ban Treaty briefing from the JPIT website.
