Leprosy Sunday 2021

March 5, 2021 By Web Editor

Leprosy Sunday

Churches are being asked to hold a Leprosy Sunday over the coming weeks with a Leprosy Mission speaker, whether on Zoom or with a pre-recorded video.

The Leprosy Mission has made available resources including a recorded Leprosy Sunday Service, sermon notes, Powerpoint presentation, children’s activities and an editorial for church newsletters.

There is also a five minute film about the Unconditional Appeal, introduced by Dame Darcey Bussell, which can be downloaded for churches to use as they wish.

Until 24 April 2024, the UK government will match any donations to the appeal.

Resources

Download or order from the Leprosy Mission website.

Campaign video and service

You can download for church use: Campaign film, Leprosy Sunday Service.

About the campaign

Leprosy is a disease often considered confined to Biblical times. But did you know there are almost a quarter of a million new leprosy cases diagnosed each year? Even though there is a cure for leprosy, for every person treated there are a hidden 20 needing the cure.

In rural Mozambique, healthcare is difficult to find and leprosy treatment is even more limited. Without the right care, leprosy can cause permanent disability, while fear of the disease leads to stigma and isolation. Through community hubs the Leprosy Mission provides a place where people affected by leprosy can experience the unconditional love of God, no matter what.
