Inter Faith Week and Scottish Interfaith Week 2021

November 12, 2021 By Web Editor

Inter Faith Week runs from 14-21 November 2021, while Scottish Interfaith Week took place from 31 October – 7 November 2021.

Interfaith Week.

Inter Faith Week takes place across England, Northern Ireland and Wales and aims to:

  • Strengthen good interfaith relations at all levels.
  • Increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities in the UK, in particular celebrating and building on the contribution which their members make to their neighbourhoods and to wider society.
  • Increase understanding between people of religious and non-religious beliefs

The Inter Faith Week website lists activities and provides a range of resources, including those for multi-faith remembrance services.

Interfaith Week is led by the Inter Faith Network for the UK.

Scottish Interfaith Week.

Scottish Interfaith Week had a theme that tied in with the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 – ‘Together for Our Planet’. It was launched with a COP26 Vigil in George Square, Glasgow on Sunday 31st October between 2-3pm. You can view the recording of the livestream. Participants were invited to pray or hold in their thoughts the COP26 negotiators: that they may have the courage and wisdom to work together and to make the commitments necessary to safeguard the future of humanity and all life on our planet.

Scottish Interfaith Week provides an opportunity for interfaith groups, faith communities, schools, organisations and local communities across the country to celebrate Scotland’s religious diversity by planning events that bring people together to promote dialogue, understanding and co-operation between Scotland’s diverse religious communities and cultures. It is managed by Interfaith Scotland.
