Oxford Three Faiths Encounter
Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions – learning and encounter at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford.
Over 80% of the world’s population are estimated to be people of faith or affiliated to a faith group, and yet only a few faith leaders have been in the forefront of thinking about the most important issue facing us all – the climate crisis. All our faiths have beautiful texts and traditions about protecting the environment, but even so, we have not been active enough to make the changes we need.
A vitally important part is the opportunity not just to observe but to participate in authentic traditions of worship from the three faiths. These will take place on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the conference. The programme will begin on Thursday morning 24 March and a social event will be held the night before for those already in Oxford.
The conference is open to people of all ages and faiths. The event is being held to highlight that people of faith need to be engaging with their communities to commit to the action we all need to take to save our world from climate disaster.
The organisers particularly welcome:
- Students with an interest in other faiths and cultures.
- Workers in faith communities.
- Teachers, social workers, police, prison officers or anyone who works with faith communities or in the public sector.
