Global Day of Action for Climate Justice

October 8, 2021 By Web Editor

Saturday 6 November 2021.

COP26 coalition Many churches and Christian organisations are encouraging members and supporters to join events in this decentralised global mass day of action.

While there are events around the nations, major rallies are planned for Glasgow and London. In Glasgow those taking part are meeting from 11.30am in Kelvingrove Park, which has a ‘faith and belief bloc’. For more details, and to let organisers know you’re attending, see the Eventbrite page. Coaches from Edinburgh have been organised by the Edinburgh COP26 coalition.

The London event will take place at noon outside the Bank of England, EC2R 8AH, before marching to Trafalgar Square for a rally at 3pm. The ‘faith and belief bloc’ in London will be meeting outside St Michael Cornhill Church on Cornhill at noon. You can find details of the London event from the COP26 Coalition here. Christian Aid also has a detailed page about the London Day of Action.

In Cardiff, Christian Aid is involved in a prayer and preparation meeting at Dewi Sant Church, CF10 3DD, at 11am, with marchers assembling at City Hall at noon for a rally at Senedd.

In Bangor, again Christian Aid is promoting a prayer and preparation meeting at Emaus Church, Love Lane, with marchers assembling at the pier at 1.30pm for a 2.30pm rally at Bangor Clock.

In Belfast, there is a prayer event, jointly hosted by Christian Aid, Tearfund, Evangelical Alliance and 24/7 Prayer, at 11am in Central Church, May Street, Belfast. At noon there a walk from Cornmarket to Belfast City Hall. For more information and to say you’re attending see the Christian Aid website.

Some Christian organisations have their own details/sign-ups for event(s):

  • CAFOD
  • Christian Aid Scotland

You can search for local events on the COP26 coalition website. So far, more than 15 UK locations have confirmed events including Nottingham, Chichester, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol, Oxford, Newcastle, Leeds, Truro, Swansea, Sheffield, Birmingham and Plymouth.
