A new report from Theos, Christianity and Mental Health: Theology, Activities, Potential, addresses the reality of mental health in the UK today with almost ten million British adults being diagnosed with at least one mental health problem each year and around one in four having been diagnosed with at least one mental health problem over their lifetime. It explores what Christians in the UK are doing to address mental health needs and assesses how effective these services are.
Theos describes the report as a ‘scoping study’ and hopes to do more work on the topic. It says the report offers real encouragement with Christians and churches doing many good things, but they could also be doing so much more.
