Christian Aid Week 15-21 May 2022

April 18, 2022 By Web Editor

Christian Aid logo This year’s theme is based around helping to turn hunger into hope.

As our planet is changing, some people are feeling the effects more than others. Weather extremes are now more frequent and more intense, and the world is facing a climate crisis.

For the first time in a generation, global poverty is rising. Coronavirus, conflict and the climate crisis are pushing more of our global neighbours into a struggle for survival.

One country that is on the front lines of this crisis is Zimbabwe. In rural Zimbabwe, seven out of ten women rely on farming to earn a living and provide for their families. But the climate crisis has brought intense droughts that have left their land barren. So far, Christian Aid has helped over 27,000 people in Zimbabwe to stand strong and resilient to the climate crisis. But there is still more to do.

Action

Christian Aid is encouraging supporters to take 300,000 sponsored steps throughout the month of May. If you take part, you can sign up to receive a Christian Aid t-shirt in English or bilingual Welsh/English.

Other fundraising activities include running a quiz night, holding a Big Brekkie and house to house collections.

Resources

Resources are available to order or download (many in English or Welsh) including collection envelopes, posters, a film to show in church, a devotional with 7 days of prayers and reflections, an order of service Powerpoint presentation, sermon notes, bilingual printed order of service, prayer sheet, quiz questions and answers, all-age talks and activities, and resources to help hold a Big Brekkie.
