This year’s Christian Aid Week focuses on refugees, reflecting on Christian Aid’s support for refugees since 1945.
As part of the theme, Christian Aid looks at the story of Nejebar, who with her family fled horrors in Afghanistan where her husband was threatened with torture and death for being a government worker. But having reached Greece, all they have now is a tent. Christian Aid has been there for refugees like Nejebar for over 70 years, providing essential food, shelter and legal assistance for people far from home.
The Christian Aid website has a wide range of resources for churches and individuals wanting to support the week by hosting a Big Brekkie fundraiser, door-to-door or church collections.
Publicity material includes posters and a publicity kit, with photos and captions, a short magazine article and a longer version of Nejebar’s story to adapt for articles and presentations.
Worship resources include prayers, sermons, a service outline and a devotional which includes a campaign postcard.
