On Sunday 6 February 2022, The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
Celebrations are being planned across the UK throughout the year, with a four day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June 2022.
Here we list resources and initiatives to help churches take part in these community events.

Choirs invited to take part in The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons
Commonwealth Choirs, however large or small, are invited to join in the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons at 21:45 on 2 June 2022.
The choirs will be singing the Song for the Commonwealth, which has been specially commissioned, at exactly the same time as thousands of other choirs all over the world, to celebrate the lighting of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons.
Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Faith & Service
To help local churches mark this unique occasion, HOPE Together is working in partnership with the Church of England, the Methodist Church, Biblica, Word & Worship Trust, Thy Kingdom Come, Pais Movement, Youth For Christ, YouthScape, The Message, Prayer Spaces In Schools, Girls’ Brigade and Boys’ Brigade.

Resources include:
- Our Faithful Queen gift book, using rarely-seen prayers the Queen prayed as she prepared for the Coronation. Published by HOPE Together and Biblica.
- A new anthem Rise Up and Serve has been commissioned by HOPE Together and written by contemporary hymn writers Graham Kendrick and Rend Collective for choirs to sing as part of the celebrations.
- A YouTube video, from the team that brought together The UK Blessing, featuring choirs from around the Commonwealth singing the new anthem. This will be available to share on social media and play at events as part of the celebrations.
- 70 Acts of Service – an invitation to communities to celebrate by serving others with 70 community service ideas drawing on Stewardship’s 40 Acts.
- Your Street Party Planner – ideas and plans for fun-packed community events developed in collaboration with the Methodist Church and Big Lunch.
- Banners, posters and other Platinum Jubilee branded resources will be available from CPO.
- On Her Majesty’s Service for 11-14s – Resources include ideas for action and videos to use.
- A Happylands animation and book The Girl Who Grew Up To Be Queen for under 5s is to be published by HOPE Together in partnership with The Entertainer and Hope for Every Home.
- Thy Kingdom Come are also providing a Cheeky Pandas film, song and book for primary school children – with resource packs for home/church/school and community events.

BRF
BRF has published prayers for the platinum jubilee .
There are also free Messy Church and Messy Vintage resources.
Church of England
Liturgical resources have been published for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The material includes prayers, suggested readings and hymns, an outline service of thanksgiving, and graces for a Jubilee lunch.
Church in Wales
The Church in Wales has published Prayers for the Celebration of the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.
Methodist Church
The Methodist Church is encouraging church members to get involved in community events, and you can find a list of challenges/suggestions, plus resources, on the Methodist Church website.
Church of Ireland
The Liturgical Advisory Committee (LAC) of the Church of Ireland has published a set of resources for use in parishes at services celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The material, which includes prayers, suggested readings and Eucharistic propers, is available as a PDF or Word file and can be downloaded from the Church of Ireland website.
ROOTS for Churches
ROOTS for Churches has commissioned some special prayers and other resources, including a Platinum Jubilee placemat, for use in celebrations. They are available free on the ROOTS website.
United Christian Broadcasters (UCB)
UCB has produced a special 30-day book of Bible-based readings taken from the UCB Word For Today. It looks at subjects such as faithfulness, service and honour, and can be used for personal Bible study or Jubilee-themed events and street parties.
The booklets are free to order, you just pay postage and packing costs, with a donation optional.
