Appeal and prayers after Grenfell Tower fire

An appeal has been issued by the Salvation Army to support the church’s emergency response teams, which have been helping London’s emergency services attending the Grenfell Tower fire.

Local churches have also been helping those affected by the fire, as reported by Premier Christian Radio and Christian Today.

Prayers

Churches have also responded with prayers for those affected.

Captain Ruth Gray, who with her husband Karl, has been co-ordinating the Salvation Army’s emergency response at the tower, said:

‘People have witnessed things they would rather have never seen. People can pray for the people who will provide long-term support. People have been made homeless, their homes have gone and how people deal with that I don’t know. We pray that people find hope in a really horrendous situation and we pray for the emergency services who continue to work so tirelessly.’

Cardinal Vincent Nichols of the Catholic Church in England and Wales said:

‘We pray for all the residents of Grenfell Tower. we pray particularly for those who have suffered injury, those who have died, and all the residents who have are left without a home today, and the entire community that has been affected.’

for casualties, for the wounded, for the missing and the traumatised.
We pray for the emergency services and for those who are responsible for co-ordinating the response to this major incident.

In your mercy hear our prayers.
