Archbishop Justin Welby and Patriarch Bartholomew led an ecumenical prayer vigil at Lambeth Palace Chapel on 3 November 2015 for refugees fleeing violence, persecution and poverty.
The special service was part of Patriarch Bartholomew’s visit to Archbishop Justin Welby, during which the Patriarch also gave a lecture on environmental issues.
The two leaders led prayers for refugees as well as those whose lives are threatened by climate change. Prayers were also said for those responsible for seeking solutions to the refugee crisis, and for those who will be negotiating at the United Nations COP 21 climate change talks in Paris.
