27 February 2022.
Church Action on Poverty is looking for churches to Give, Act and Pray as part of the movement to unlock UK poverty. It hopes that at least 150 churches across the UK will hold a special service or take a collection on Church Action on Poverty Sunday.
This year’s theme is Dignity, Agency, Power.
The pandemic has brought into focus pre-existing inequalities in society and has led to dramatic increases in poverty, food insecurity and debt.
Church Action on Poverty says that to prevent more people being swept deeper into poverty, it’s vital that the people affected have a say – now more than ever, churches and communities need to come together to reclaim dignity, agency and power.
Free worship resources to reflect and pray for change, and raise funds, are available to download after signing up on the Church Action on Poverty website.
