Michael H Taylor, Emeritus Professor of Social Theology at the University of Birmingham, presented the 2019 David Goodbourne lecture ‘Sweet Charity’, organised by the Centre for Theology and Justice, and Luther King House.
Charities have come under increasing scrutiny in recent times and this lecture focussed on their capacity, or otherwise, to bring about social justice, whether by ‘incremental’ or ‘structural’ change. It also looked at the role of faith and theology in achieving this.
