A consultation on conversion to Christianity and the impact and challenges for asylum procedures is being held by the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME) on 2-3 May 2018 in Brussels.
It is being planned on request and in cooperation with the Christian Council in Sweden, with the secretariat of the Catholic Bishops’ Conferences in Europe (COMECE) involved in the detailed programme.
Several member churches in different countries have addressed the issue, and engaged with national asylum authorities in a number of ways, and the consultation is likely to involve sharing experiences and insights on how churches can advise authorities on this matter, and also how authorities are dealing with these often sensitive issues.
A participation fee, covering accommodation and meals, of 120 EUR per participant is requested. Registration is needed by 20 April 2018.
For more details see the invitation to CCME members and partner organisations or email CCME.
