Thirty one faith institutions from six countries – including 16 from the UK – have joined the latest global divestment announcement organised by Operation Noah, Green Anglicans, Laudato Si’ Movement, the World Council of Churches, Dayenu and GreenFaith.
The announcement from faith institutions in the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Italy and France comes as grassroots campaigners call on more faith groups to stop funding fossil fuels.
Faith institutions divesting from fossil fuels include seven Church of England dioceses, including the Diocese of London; six Church of England Cathedrals, including Canterbury Cathedral; the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle in Australia; two Catholic dioceses; and one Jewish institution.
